As face masks are becoming a mandatory requirement in our daily lives, whether it’s visiting shops, taking public transport or even going into your local takeaway, we decided to take a look at the impact of face masks on the security industry as a whole.

Ask any security professional or retail employee what is the scourge of his or her life and who his or her customers are. Even long before masks are introduced, those who are required to identify customers hate it. The classic “eeeeh can I tell my husband that,” “Why are you identifying me, I’m 35? It’s so offensive ”, etc. is always useless. We are just doing our job!
But now, with masks being a requirement because of Covid 19, security professionals need to identify people more than ever. With policies such as “Challenge 25”, it is impossible for door guards or security guards to get an accurate interpretation of someone just from their eyes and forehead? Also, with many videos going viral of teenagers disguised as elderly people in face masks, security professionals need to be more on the ball now than ever.

Did you see how easy it was? There is no limit to what people will try to do to buy alcohol or get into nightclubs, etc. so if you work in the security industry, be aware!
Long shifts
With long shifts, often even at night, wearing a mask for long periods of time can be incredibly uncomfortable and hectic. It is an absolute honour for our front line NHS workers who wear full PPE for hours on end and for this we will always be grateful. And at the moment it looks as though almost all security and other professionals working in supermarkets like supermarkets will have to continue to wear face masks for the foreseeable future. Therefore, for the time being, we must continue to do our duty and continue to follow the guidelines and continue to wear masks.
