Who needs the CCTV Operator Licence?
This qualification is designed for learners who wish to apply for a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a CCTV operator in public space surveillance. This qualification is based on the SIA specification relevant to learning and qualifications and is supported by Skills for Security, the security industry standard body and the SIA, which regulates the private security industry.
How long will the course last?
To complete this qualification, learners must complete 32 hours of training. The SIA stipulates a minimum of 23 contact hours (3 days) if flexible distance learning is undertaken.
CCTV Topics Covered
These include the key objectives of the private security industry, the differences between civil and criminal law, the roles and responsibilities of each member of the video surveillance team, the importance of accurate record-keeping, procedures for reporting equipment failures and what to do if a suspicious object is found in the CCTV control room.
How is the Training Assessed
The training will be assessed with a practical exam and a multiple-choice assessment.
